Welcome to Chateaux Villere Elkhounds
Our first Norwegian Elkhound was given to me by a dear friend. That was in 1976. That’s what started my great love for the Norwegian Elkhound. My first, Kriss, exemplified all that is great about the breed and why I will always have a Norwegian Elkhound. She was such a smart, sweet, affectionate dog, as well as being protective of our family. She was wonderful with our children and our other pets.
Norwegian Elkhounds have excellent temperaments. They are smart, loyal, loving, friendly, and easygoing. They make good watchdogs and hunting dogs, if properly trained. Their coats are easy to maintain, just wash and brush, as needed. They don’t have the typical “doggy” odor. They also adapt well to warmer climates provided you provide adequate shade and water.
We got Bowen, our male, in 2005. Bowen is a smart, sweet, even-tempered dog. He enjoys chasing the squirrels out of our backyard, and keeps the Opossoms and Armadillos out, too. He loves to be with our family, no matter what we’re doing, he wants to be a part of it.
Ava, our female, joined the family in 2006. She is such a character! She’s smart, sweet, and can be “sassy”. Like Bowen, she loves to chase the squirrels. She’s caught a couple, too. She’s very fast.
Thank you for your interest, but all our puppies have found new homes.
